📝💌 About Us: Discover the Heart Behind PaperHugs
Check out: A Letter to our Volunteers 💖
Hey there,
We're Elise and Victoria, the founders of PaperHugs. As two high schoolers with a shared passion for making a positive impact, we created the non-profit Paper Hugs as a way to target senior isolation in long-term care homes. We’re so happy you're interested in joining our team!
"Through the power of written words and heartfelt connection, PaperHugs weaves a tapestry of love, bridging generations, and dispelling the shadows of isolation. Together, we are the ink that scribes smiles on the faces of seniors, reminding them that they are cherished and never alone."
Our Journey
The story of PaperHugs originated from passion and a desire to make a difference in our community. It all began during one of our volunteer shifts together, where we were volunteering at a long-term care home in the aftermath of Covid. As we interacted with the seniors, we couldn't help but notice something that tugged at our heartstrings – the isolation that many of them faced.
The idea behind PaperHugs was subsequently formed: We realized that even simple interactions, like a handwritten letter, could bridge the gap between generations and foster a sense of belonging that so many seniors long for. And thus, our pen pal program was born.

Our Vision
The concept is simple: high school students and seniors become pen pals, exchanging stories, experiences, and laughter through letters. It's not just about the words on paper; it's about making connections that go past age, backgrounds, and life experiences. With each letter shared, we're creating a lifetime of memories and emotions that brighten the days of those living in long-term care homes.
What fuels our passion is the knowledge that a small act of kindness can have a monumental impact. We've seen firsthand the smiles that light up faces when a letter arrives, the anticipation that builds with each exchange, and the genuine friendships that blossom over time. It's a testament to the power of human connection – the kind that knows no boundaries.
Join Us
As we continue on this journey, we invite you to be a part of something truly special. Join us at PaperHugs, where we're aiming to reduce senior isolation and loneliness. With love and endless hope,
Elise and Victoria 💞
